Guidelines for Street Litter Cleanups:

Stay safe!
  • What to bring: 🔹mask/face covering, 🔹gloves, 🔹60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer,🔹grabbers (if you have them), 🔹2 separate collection boxes or bags.
  • Select Location with few people where you can stay 6 feet apart. Avoid crowded areas and times.
  • Wear a mask or cloth face covering when in public per CDC recommendations
  • Wear gloves!! Viruses can live on hard surfaces. Wearing gloves reminds you not to touch your face or mask.
  • Grabbers(or tongs) can minimize contact between your gloves and trash items. Sanitize after each use, before transport, and before storage.
  • DO NOT touch your face/self or public surfaces during the cleanup.
  • ★★★All PPE items (Personal Protective Equipment) must be handled with great caution using gloves or grabbers. OPTION A: Discard carefully in trash receptacle. OPTION B: Do NOT handle these items -- photograph in place instead!

  • USE hand sanitizer after cleanup, then wash your hands with soap and hot water for 20 seconds as soon as you can.
  • Properly disinfect all reusable equipment before and after the cleanup using an EPA-approved product for use against COVID-19.

Our VISION
We envision a plastic free, equitable zero waste future where landfill and incinerator garbage as we know it no longer exists;
where post consumption waste from food to packaging is drastically reduced
and what remains benefits our schools, communities, and the environment.
